The Triune God (3 in 1)
1. There is one eternally existent God, Sovereign of the universe, of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness; Triune in essential being, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. I John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
Jesus Christ
2. The Son, who is the Word of the Father, who took man’s nature, became incarnate by the Holy Ghost and was born of the Virgin Mary, so that two whole and perfect nature’s, that is to say, the Godhead and manhood, are thus united in one person, very God and very man, the God-man.
Furthermore, we believe that Jesus was crucified, dead, and buried to reconcile as to God; and that He arose from the dead and took again His body and ascended to heaven. He mediator for our sins.
Luke 1 and 2, Matthew 26, 27, 28, and Acts 1
The Holy Ghost
3. The Holy Ghost, the third person of the Triune Godhead, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is present and alive with the Church of Christ, and is very eternal God. Acts 2
The Holy Scriptures
4. We believe that the Holy Scriptures contain all things necessary to make us wise unto salvation; so that whatsoever is not contained therein is not to be enjoined as an article of faith. In the name of the Holy Scriptures we receive the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament, known as the Holy Bible.
John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Atonement
5. According to the Scriptures, Jesus Christ, by His suffering, by the shedding of His own blood, and His death on the cross, made full atonement for all sin; and this at one ment is the only ground of salvation. Romans 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. Romans 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Free Agency
6. In the creation, man was created with the ability to choose between right and wrong. Through the fall of Adam, he became depraved so that he cannot now turn and prepare himself by his own natural strength and works to faith and calling upon God; but the grace of God through Jesus Christ is freely bestowed upon all, enabling all who will turn from sin to righteousness and to believe in Jesus Christ for pardon and cleansing from sin, and to do good works. Matthew 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Repentance
7. Repentance which precedes belief in Christ for remission of sins is a godly sorrow for sin, and a sincere and thorough change of mind in regard to sin, and is demanded of all who have sinned against God by act or purpose. Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Justification
8. Justification is the gracious act of God by which the repentant and believing heart is granted full pardon for all sins committed and accepted as righteous through the merits of God. Luke 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. Luke 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. Luke 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. Luke 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.Luke 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Sanctification
9. Sanctification is a work of grace wrought in the heart by the Holy Ghost, subsequent to regeneration, by which believers are brought into a state of entire devotion to God. the abiding, indwelling presence of the Holy Ghost empowers the believer for service and imparts the divine nature of God to man. Sanctification is wrought instantaneously by faith, provided by the blood of Jesus, preceded by entire consecration, and the Holy Ghost bears witness to this work and state of grace. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Romans 12:1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Baptism
10. We believe that water baptism signifies the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the acceptance of the benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ. It should be administered to all believers by immersion as the only mode, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. Romans 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
The Lord's Supper
11. The Lord’s Supper, instituted by our Saviour, is only for those to participate in who have faith in Christ and love the saints, and by it they show forth the Lord’s death till He comes again. Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. Matthew 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. Mat. 26: 26- and I Corinthians 11 and John 13
Healing
12. Healing for the body is a Scriptural doctrine. It is the blessed privilege of the human family to be healed I answer to the prayer of faith. Providential means and agencies, when deemed necessary for the restoration of health, should not be refused. James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Gifts of the Spirit
13. We believe there are gifts of the Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will; but we do not believe that speaking in the unknown tongue is proof or witness to the receiving and indwelling presence of the Holy Ghost. Romans 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Romans 12:7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Romans 12:8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Romans 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Church
14. The Church is composed of persons who have the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The record of the Church invisible is kept in Heaven. The great mission of the Church on earth is the Proclamation of the Gospel. Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Return of Jesus
15. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ will come again; that those who abide in Him will be caught up with the risen saints to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
I Thess 4, I Cor 15 and Rev 20-22
Resurrection and Judgement
16. The Scriptures teach the resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust..." ...They that have done good unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation." John 5:29 We believe in the future judgement in which everyone shall give account of the deeds done in this life. See #15
Destiny
17. We believe that those who have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord, in departing this life, are assured of everlasting life; and that the impenitent, on departing this life, shall suffer eternally in Hell. John 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe the Holy Scriptures, and we accept only the King James Version for public reading by our ministers, superintendents, teachers and Christian Youth workers, contain all things necessary to make us wise unto salvation.
Marriage
18. We believe that marriage was instituted by God in the Garden of Eden (Gen 2:21:25). We further believe that God has ordained marriage as an Holy estate between one man and one woman. Any deviation from God's plan is neither scriptural nor recognized by any church of the Kentucky Christian Conference. (Rom. 1:24-32 We will not extend membership to any persons involved in same sex marriages or unions.
